Thanks to CITB and the Department for Education the Luton DART project is able to offer this opportunity for candidates from Luton and Bedfordshire to benefit from up to two weeks’ industry-relevant practical training leading to recognised qualifications. No previous experience is necessary, you will be provided with the core skills and qualifications you need to embark on a career in constructions, the only entry requirements are that you can read and speak English.

Those who complete the training will have access to employment, apprenticeship and work placement opportunities.

Course Title: Construction Skills Training
Location: Luton DART Project Office, VolkerFitzpatrick-Kier Join Venture, Project Office, Kimpton Road, Luton LU2 0LA.
Duration: 5 Days (Candidates must attend all 5 days to pass the course and be invited for 2nd week).

Week 1 Training Content: Construction Visualisation and Awareness
Level 1 Health & Safety Awareness
Manual Handling & Fire Warden
NPORS Harness Training
Emergency First Aid at Work
CSCS Operative Revision & Test

Week 2 Optional Training: NPORS Plant Training (Forward Tipping Dumper, Ride on Roller, Plant/Vehicle Marshal, Scissor & Boom, Slinger Signaller); SSSTS; Introduction to Brickwork/Formwork/scaffolding/steel fixing etc.

Required from Candidate:

• Candidates will be required to provide identification in line with CITB Requirements (also attached).
• Candidates must attend each day to pass the course and qualify for week 2 (not necessarily the following week)

Additional Information: The second week is not necessarily the following week, it will depend on the options picked during week 1. Candidates are not required to bring any of their own PPE, lunch is not provided but there are some shops and cafes a short walk from the venue. Tea, coffee and water is provided. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas, anyone failing to obey the site rules will be removed and banned.
