Council encourages businesses to shape the future of Central Bedfordshire
Central Bedfordshire Council is planning how the area will develop over the coming years and is keen to hear from businesses of all sizes, industries, and locations about what matters most to them.
This is a real opportunity for businesses to shape the future of Central Bedfordshire to ensure that the area continues to provide the best location and opportunities for businesses to grow, expand and thrive.
Through a new Local Plan for the area, the Council can encourage the space for new and expanding businesses. We could also provide space to create new jobs to boost the local economy and enable more people to work closer to where they live.
The new Local Plan can influence the types of jobs we have in our area by specifying types of land uses to enable us to develop high-performance technologies, advanced logistics, and digital technology sectors. We know food production is a key sector in Central Bedfordshire and the retention of high-quality agricultural land requires further consideration.
We could prioritise attracting green businesses. As set out in the Council’s Sustainability Plan, we need to support local businesses, landowners and farmers to transition to the low-carbon economy and support the creation of a circular economy in Central Bedfordshire.
We recognise the importance of efficient transport options for businesses to operate optimally and for employees to commute easily and sustainably. Your input will guide us in identifying areas where transport networks need to be improved to support logistical and operational demands.
Modern and reliable infrastructure is essential for business effectiveness. By engaging in this conversation, you can advocate for the digital infrastructure, upgrades, or new facilities that your business requires for continued growth and success.
The new Local Plan is more than planning for jobs, we also need to plan for new homes too. Planning carefully for growth can ensure development also brings the opportunity for appropriate facilities, services and new or improved green spaces.
So, whether you run a business here or live here too, your voice matters!
The consultation process ends on 23rd September 2024.
