Economic Strategy Implementation Review
Central Bedfordshire Council’s Two Year Review of the Economic Strategy’s Implementation plan 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, is a comprehensive assessment of our service areas’ deliveries of the objectives set out in our council’s Economic Strategy and our Economic Implementation Plan which were both adopted in 2021.
The Economic Implementation plan is the framework for how we intend to deliver the objectives set out in the Economic Strategy, categorised under six themes:
- Skills for the Future
- Making Strategic Relationships Work for Central Bedfordshire
- Supporting our Businesses
- Investing in Infrastructure
- Embedding our Council in our Local Economy
- Creating Sustainable Places for the Future
This two year review highlights how our service areas have delivered against our local economic objectives in the financial years of 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 and sets our economic goals for 2024/2025. It is designed to show our residents and local businesses the interventions our council has made to make Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.
Some of our significant achievements include:
- Developing the Skills for All Strategy which incorporates an employer led approach to supporting residents to build skills needed for fulfilling and secure careers
- Supporting over 270 of our local businesses through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund grant programmes
- Delivering a suite of local infrastructure projects with the Government High Infrastructure Fund grant
- Adopting our Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document which is a significant consideration in determining planning applications
- Adopting our Social Value Policy which shows our corporate commitment to implementing at least 10% of social value weighting in all our contracts worth £100,000 or more
- Promoting Sustainable Travel through Cycle Hire Schemes, Increased Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and running Bikeability lessons in local schools
