We allocated £1million from our capital budget to give local independent High Street shops and businesses a facelift.
The money was set aside from our £4million Market Town Regeneration Fund, and has been spent renovating and refurbishing premises and bringing vacant shops back into use.
We offered grants of up to 60% of the cost of repairs and renovations, with 40% paid for by the owners. The grants were to help alleviate the pressures on our local High Streets, and make them a more attractive place for visitors. The money has been spent on 21 shops and businesses across seven towns: Ampthill, Biggleswade, Dunstable, Leighton-Linslade, Potton, Sandy, and Shefford.
We’re delighted to say that the work is now complete. Watch our video to find out more about why we did the project.
