The University of Bedfordshire opens new building dedicated to Science and Technology
The University of Bedfordshire is officially opening its new £40 million department dedicated to Science and Technology.
The STEM building at the Luton campus is being unveiled by Lord Robert Winston.
It includes large computer labs where subjects such as Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Science will be taught.
University leaders hope the four-floor building will serve as an icon for the town and its commitment to skills and scientific discovery.
Bill Rammell said: “It incorporates a public outreach facility, enabling us to promote careers in science and engage with business and the local community to match regional skills needs."
The building also hosts a Science and Engineering Outreach Centre to promote science and engineering to local schools and the wider Bedfordshire community.
“Our priority at this University is to inspire our scientists and engineers, and seek to diversify our STEM professions, to inspire men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds to learn, imagine and discover.” said Bill Rammell, Vice-Chancellor
